Removing ugly scratches from travertine table

Hi,

I have this old marble top table. It was given to me by my grandmother (rip). I wish I could take a picture but my cam got stolen. In any event. The table has some nasty scratches on it. I am not even sure how they got there. It may have happened during a move several years back.

The scratches aren't that deep. Is there a product I could use to fill these type of scratches?

Some people use diamond pads or honing powders but I am not really sure if that is applicable to YOUR table. Maybe somebody else can help.

I have done it a couple times. I started with 100 grit sand paper until I removed the scratches. The area turns dull. Now you have to polish back the shine. Sand with 150 grit for a few minutes. Sand with 220 or 240 grit for a few minutes. Sand with 400 grit for a few minutes.

If it is not shiny enough, continue to sand with finer & finer sand paper. Good luck!!
