View Full Version : Can I tile the front of a fiberglass bath tub?

Hi, I am new here.

Not sure if this is the right board for this question. I have a travertine floor in my bathroom. I'd like to build a tub surround by just tiling the sides the tub. I've been told it can't be done because it won't stick and the sides are unstable. What do ya'll think?

well, Fiberglass expands and contracts. That's the cause of your grout cracking and/or even the tiles to become loose.

remember the old saying, "There is never time to do it right, but there is always time to do it over." :)

Do it right, so it's done!! Move on to other exciting projects. Do it wrong just 1 time and it automatically decreases the market value of your whole house and makes it even hard to sell should you ever decide to.

Good luck,
Mr Marble
